Still on the Med coast. Weather cool, the Mistral has been vigorous. The expression goes, strong enough to blow the ears off a donkey. Wind-chill a real factor.
Radio activity, modest. Still 30-meters and still 9 meters of wire practically on the ground. No further DX. Best results into east-euro. For a while, the UK was a good possibility but that seems to have deteriorated. About 21 countries worked so far. There are many stations I just don't hear with 9 meters of wire so low.
Internet connections difficult but manage to read your blogs though may not comment.
Medical expenses will be incurred fairly soon. No new QRP rig on horizon for me now. Not as though I am QRT for lack of a transceiver, anyway.

Hi Dick, I have not heard you so far on 30 m, but that's because my antenna (HyEndFed is not good for 30 m) And my home brew dipole is only excellent on 80 meters. I can work only on 80-40-20 and 10m. I can tune on other ham bands, but that's only a matter of luck and good propagations. I cherish my two transceivers. I cannot afford a new one. Because of budget cuts by the Dutch government I do have 10% less income this year. Not that I really complain, still we are doing well. A good health is the most important thing. I have to count my blessings. Take care, 73 Paul
RépondreSupprimerHello Dick, it is fun to discover what is possible with a short antenna in a new place. I have worked on holiday from CT, CT3, CU3, EA, EA8, F, and TA, with an antenna of 6 mtrs to 20 mtrs. In some places, I had to wait for the propagation to go up. Have fun and enjoy the limitation. 73, Bert
RépondreSupprimerGood evening Dick, on this side of the pond 30m is fading with DX in the evenings. I do get local stuff on 40m but for DX it will have to be during the weekends at daytime hours. So it looks like during the week I will get some time to build the k2 kit I bought.

Hi Mike and GL with your K2 construction. You could put your name on the elecraft list as a possible source for those who want an elecraft but don't or can't assemble themselves. Could bring a few bucks into the household. 73 Dick
